When I saw this post by Upper Room, I lingered a long while.

Because in that moment, John 12:32 took me out in a whole new way.

If I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw men to Me.

Not when I lift up my gifts and talents.

Not when I lift up my eloquence.

Not when I lift up my beauty.

Not when I lift up my experience.

Not when I lift up my accolades.

Not when I lift up my knowledge and wisdom.

Not when I lift up my money or time.

Not when I lift up my spiritual disciplines.

Not when I lift up my anointing.

Only when I lift Christ up in my life can He draw men to Himself.

Whew.

Am I building my life to attract people (in the guise of leading them to Christ) or to attract Christ Himself?

If I strive to bring people to Him, only striving will keep them there.

But if I lift Him up, He will draw them in Himself and sustain them in His presence.

The latter is what I long for.

So everything I establish comes down to one purpose – to lift up Christ.
